August Fun Time

August is a fun month for me,

 mainly because of my birthday,

but it also contains my and Glen's anniversary,

this year was our 5th year to be married 

This year we took Ike and Jo with us to celebrate at Nolan Ryan's HomeField Grill

The next weekend we went camping,

It was HOT!

But we went to Canyon Lake so we could cool off in the water

Our nephews came with Meme and Pawpaw in Winnie

For my gift to Glen for our anniversary,

I made him a wooden "Huskers" sign for his office

I received a SilhoueteSD for my birthday,

so I thought it only right that he got the first use out of it

I cut FreezerPaper with it to make him a shirt

I think it came out great

School starts on Monday,

so we went shoe shopping

Ike insisted on TOMS,

 so Jo wanted some too.

Stacked Wooden Crosses

My Friend knew that I have cut letters out before,

 so she asked me to cut her some crosses out,

she sent me a picture over,

and its the same crosses I've seen all over the Antique Festival for lots of money

Of course, I had to give  it a go, they looked so simple

And they were, here they are before the routering

and here they are after,

I think it really makes a big difference 

Glen taught me how to use the router too!

I'm now in love with a new tool,

and look at wood with a new eye!

Oh the things I can do now!

Beth gets another pillow

Bethie Boo got another pillow from me for her birthday

can you tell what it is?

it is a dachshund.

I got to do something different on this pillow

I piped the edges, its not perfect,

(I don't have a piping foot for Sophia (my sewing machine))

it came out OK, I think she likes it

but no more pillows for Beth

she probably hates pillows now

Texas A&M Overalls

Ok, so I know I haven't posted in a LONG while

Long enough for people to start telling me that they are missing me

Me? really? how sweet!

There are two reasons.

I made some great overalls for my twin nephews in MAY!

Sent them to them on the 3rd of JUNE

and they still haven't gotten them!

so I have been in a funk over that

and I've had NO orders

............................................................

My mom finally told my brother what I made them,

 so it ruined the surprise,

 so maybe posting this will help me get over my funk

It is freezer paper stenciling and very careful outlining

I really liked how they turned out 

I really love the back!

Now hopefully I can get them to them before the end of the football season,

 or they grow out of them,

cross your fingers for me

Now for the second reason!

My husband and I purchased a boat in March

and we have been pretty busy spending every weekend on it 

its nice family time

Second time around

So I was super excited to get my first order of the Earring Holder I had made about a month ago,

I am really a novice when it comes to shipping,

 and thought a little bubble mailer, and foam would be enough for it to hold together,

.....no

So this was the first one I sent,

 I didn't make any money off it, because I had to buy the bubble mailers and foam,

which ended up being more than the cost of the Holder,

 plus I had to mail the darn thing. 

So the second one came out completely different,

 errr,

 I like it more,

 but I went further in the hole and bought bubble wrap,

 and paid for Priority Mail,

 I haven't heard from them, but I hope they like it,,,,

maybe more than the one sent before, cross your fingers

This was my second time doing the TKE,

but this time I rounded the corners,

My dear sweet mother bought me the last hoop that I need to complete my Hoop Set for my embroidery machine,

(The Small One, for Hats)

  So I could Embroider my Nephew's summer hats before they leave on their trip to Italy

My first Minky Blanket!!!!! 

Jo finally lost her most cherished baby blankey,

she wasn't half as upset as I was! 

Every time we went to the Fabric Store,

 she would ask for her me to make her a new one,

 so I broke down,

and spent the insane amount on the Minky fabric 

It was a rewarding project for me,

 she doesn't quite love it was much as "blankey"

(I have to say that I still miss "blankey" myself)

 but give it some time,

 I"m sure she will appreciate it

Slow week

This week was more relaxed than the last few

I was able to concentrate on some gifts

This is a Door Dangler for our next door neighbor's son

This is the earring holder I made for my mom 

She celebrated quite a big birthday on Friday 

We went to the Hula Hut with my Grandmother, and her husband Marshall 

We had a couple of new discoveries this week,

Ike has discovered my IPod 

And Jo discovered my new heels 

Cheers and Tears

Another couple of weeks have gone by,

Still busy,

Busy in a good way.

Then comes the tears,

My friend wanted me to monogram hats for her son's baseball team

since my last project with my sewing machine, I've been a little hesitant to use it again 

So I thought I would freezer paper stencil them

BAD IDEA!

The Stencil bleed, and in some places wouldn't come off 

(the material wasn't ideal for freezer stenciling)

So after a couple meltdowns, I fixed what I could,

they came out OK, but I"ll never do that again

I think I would have had better luck with my machine

Oh well, live and you learn.
