StarBurst Mirror

I love, love, love this beautiful room from Sweet Something Designs. It is soooo dramatic, plus it has something I have always wanted, a starburst mirror!
The owner said it was easy to make, so off I went to the Home Depot and Hobby Lobby to buy my supplies.
She wasn't kidding, it was easy! and next to nothing to make!
I have to admit, I was a little afraid of the end result, (maybe look a little southwest in style) but it came out great, and contemporary modern, just how I like things!
(It looks much bigger in person)
I also love that this is now checked off my list of things I want
Can't wait to start on another!
(the next will look different)

The Bad, The Good and, The Downright Ugly

The Bad:
A few weeks back, I was Blog Surfing and came across a cute tutorial on these cute busts of Halloween characters.  I memorized the process, and forgot to save the owner's tutorial to share.  But it has to be said, I quite physically copied this wonderfully talented person's idea (busts and all, I found them at Dollar Tree)
If you would like to know how to do them, all I did was painted them white with spray paint and then watered down some brown acrylic paint, brushed it over, then wiped it off. TAAADDAA Done!
Easy Smeasy
I had to try it out on a Styrofoam pumpkin

The Good:
NOW on to more relevant things, (cuz Halloween is like ages off)
My sweet, sweet mother showed pity on my and took me plant shopping
I"m so excited that I have living plants again
(I promise to take better care of them)
That wolfman is soooo scary, huh?
This is proof that some of my plants made it through the summer,
(mainly because I didn't have to water them)

The Ugly:
And now to the vain of my existence.
this went up today in sight of my backyard,
They are currently putting up one on the other side of my house too.
TALYOR TEXAS, you needed to build your own Surge Station!
I really dislike you!

Welcome Chalkboard

I've been less than happy with my front entry for a while.  With my dying potted plants, old doormat, and no decoration.  Its time to change!
I made this sign from one of the left over squares from my kitchen revamp project, and "took creative guideness" from one of Texas A&M's symbols.
Hey, I feel that I am a Teague, and I like stars, I could have come up with this on my own..... maybe
Anyways, I'm an Aggie too, so I can use it darnit!

Begining to come together, huh?
My mom gave me the bench (which I pressure washed the gecko poop from), and I took a picture of the one halfway alive potted plant I own!
When Glen gets home I will hang it! Cant wait!

And finally, I know it is not in focus, but Jo and Ike have been creating lately too.
Jo colored her toenails and fingernails with a pink marker!

Join us Saturdays at tatertotsandjello.com for the weekend wrap up party!

Just cuz I was Bored

What are these? you ask......
Can you see it now?

Here is a big Hint on my lovely model
These are supposed to be baby leg/arm warmers (the jo is just modeling them for me)
So, the stripe ones came out a lot better than the argyle ones.  I don't know what it is, as soon as I compelte something, and am so excited about it I have to do it again, except the second time, it always looks like poop.
(Jo had to get a full shot)
Anyways, these are going to
(Courtney and Evan I could not wait to brag)
 my twin nephews,
 (Eli and Porter).
I hope they fit, or look halfway normal, or useful in any way
If not, Jo enjoys them, and has asked me to make her some in,
 what else,
 PINK

Now, I need to find more SOCKS,,,,
A&M
SRIPES

I have a really cool project on the mind, Can't wait to get to,
In the meantime,
Happy Labor Day Weekend

Memory Board from Screen Door

I haven't been crafting lately, but I thought I would post one of my first ever projects.
I made this Memory Board in 2004.
Can you tell I made it from a Screen Door?
It is supposed to say, in french, "Share you life with me," but IDK if it really does.
I originally hung it my bedroom, but now since Josie's room has a Parisian theme in a black, white, and hot pink, it fits perfect.
I fount these two glass doorknobs, and had Glen attach them, to hold purses and such
It hangs by its original hardware, which I cover with the feather boa.

I LOVE THE FALL
I don't know what comes over me in the fall, but I start this 3 month obsession with cooking. I don't really like cooking throughout the rest of the year, just from Sept, till Nov.
So, I think that I might post some of my favorite recipes.
Just something about the fall makes me feel like decorating, and cooking.

Just Something I Whipped Up

I am sooooo tired of my plain kitchen!
Yea, I painted it a HOT color, but the walls are bare other than the color.  So I was just playing around yesterday, and this is what I came up with.
They are a take on a Spanish Cross, but not being the religous type, I tipped it to the side and made them into cool symbols.

Pretty neat that I came up with that in one day!

I'm linking up to Jen's

Ike's First Day of School

This has nothing to do with Crafts, but it has to do with something that I have created:

So, I know it has been a while since I have last blogged, but I have been busy mentally preparing myself for today.  Today is
 Isaac's first day of school.
And as a mom who has not spent a full day without him since he was around 9 months (except for an occasional trip with Nana), it was very hard.  It is a big step in his life!, and I hate to say it, mine too.

Wake up shot:

(I had a funny video, but it was taking forever to load!)

Eating breakfast (after his shower!)

Brushing those pearly whites!

Traditional Epstein First Day of School Shot

Josie had to get in on the action

Oh, Jojo!  Upset that it she isn't in every shot

About to leave for school!

They sure do love getting their picture taken

In the car!, on the way

Walking up to the front entrance

Mrs. YBarra and Ike, in his classroom

About to leave him,

Jo was having a hard time leaving her best friend, plus she wanted some of that Play-Doh action

Still pouting when we got home

"Wait now your leaving me too, Daddy?, this is to much to bare!"
Right now she is bossing my around, making me switch between Dora and Pinky Dinky Do.  I think she will get used to this whole "being by herself" thing pretty quickly.

There you go, my boy is no longer mine anymore.
:(

He is growing up, :)

Earring Holder

About 2 months ago, my sister in law asked for me to make her something to hang her long dangle down earrings on.  I came up with an idea right away, however I was waiting to find the perfect frame, ( the right amont of antique, with the right amount of modern, the right size, and of course for the right price.)

Well after feeling bad about draging this project out, I finally found a frame and fitted it to my liking.

I painted it and ruffed it up myself.  The flowers are ADORABLE, (I hope not too cute for a 22 year old) and homemade by ME!!
I love it, and I hope she does!!!

Quatrefoil Project

So I had this great idea,
however things didn't turn out as great as her examples
I 've been wanting to do the kiddo's silouttes for a while now, and had some old canvas that needed to be covered up,
soooo this was what I came up with:
However, the Heads are too small and there is too much blank space
(Is this my overjudgemental opinion?)
I can't ask Glen, cuz he kinda snorts/giggles and walks quickly away.

Is the writting at the top too much?
should I add a pink bow to Jojo's hair?
What should I add to the bottom?
Should I start over with larger heads?
(thats the hard part, I can't figure how to make them larger)
HELP ME!!!
